What is Acupuncture?
Neoclassical Acupuncture - What is it and how does it work?
For the last 2 years Fiona has undergone a foundation and advanced diplomas in Neoclassical Acupuncture and recently attended a four-day masterclass in Brisbane, Australia with the founder of the method – Dr Slate Burris. This style of treatment has become one of the fastest growing styles in Europe and Mexico for its immediate efficacy with very few needles.
We have put together some information so you can better understand this revolutionary style of acupuncture and how it may help you!
What is Neoclassical Acupuncture?
Neoclassical Acupuncture is a palpatory style of acupuncture which provides immediate feedback with each needle placed. What has made it one of the fastest growing styles in Europe and Mexico is its immediate efficacy with very few needles, with no need for ‘recipes’ or ‘point prescriptions.’ Each treatment is highly individual to suit how the patient is presenting on that day.
The practitioner will palpate the body and the abdomen to feel for patterns of disharmony in the body, then use very specific acupuncture points to restore balance in the body. Often with this comes instant pain relief or muscle relaxation which can be felt by the client. The clearing of each of these points can be immediately verified via palpation and feedback from patient.
What sets Neoclassical Acupuncture apart?
Derived from 11th century knowledge, Dr Slate Burris developed neoclassical acupuncture based on a deep understanding and interpretation of the ancient Chinese texts.
The revolutionary paradigm shift with this method is that all diagnosis is done by palpating the body to check if the meridians, organs or elements are blocked, closed or out of flow. Within 3 to 5 minutes the whole body can be assessed by palpation on the body, the practitioner assesses the elements, extraordinary meridians, meridians and organs with instant feedback from the patient. Why this method is phenomenal, is that through its deep understanding of energetic architecture and structure, the practitioner only needs to place one needle in the patient to get vast energetic changes in the body, which often equates to removal of pain and harmonisation of the subtle energy.
