Can children receive massage?
A question we get asked frequnetly at Kingscliff Health Studio is if cleints children can also receive massage? Massage can be a nurturing and beneficial experience for children, promoting relaxation, comfort, and emotional well-being when approached with care and sensitivity.

Our qualified massage therapist Meagan has worked with children for over 10 years, in High school settings, Early childhood facilities and privately within local families. As well as her massage qualifications in paediatric massage, Meagan also holds a Diploma of Early Childhood education and a working with children safety check. She has a calm, grounded and easy-going nature that children are often drawn to. Meagan has seen first had the effects of overstimulation through screens, busy schooling, home lives, the pressure of social settings and the effects that stem from new age online connectedness within our children. As anxiety is now the second most common disorders among all children resulting in 1 in every 8 children suffering from anxiety disorders.

There is strong evidence that mental conditions in childhood and adolescence predict mental illness in adulthood (WHO 2014b; Lahey 2015;
​
At the same time, childhood presents the greatest opportunity for intervention. Investing in prevention and early intervention gives children the best opportunity for good mental health and wellbeing (NMHC 2019a).
​
Massage can assist by increase sing dopamine (happy hormone) and lowers the amount of cortisol in your body. Cortisol is the hormone your body produces when it is stressed or under pressure.
​
Massage can also provide a number of emotional benefits; these can be just as important as the physical benefits. Many people say that after a massage they feel more relaxed and calmer. It a safe and nurturing place for people to refocus and find clarity and inner calm.

Massage can lower stress levels and feelings of anxiety. It can improve mood and relaxation while increasing confidence and self-image.

If you experience depression or anxiety, or are just overloaded with extra stress, massage can be an effective part of treatment your treatment plan. It can create a sense of relief and empowerment as it allows you to focus on your mind-body connection. It helps to ground and re-centre your emotions.
